MagicScan 4.2 ReadMe
This file contains important information that was not included in the
MagicScan User's Guide file. It is divided into several sections: System
Requirements, Installation Procedures, Supported Scanners, Limitations,
Note.
System Requirements
* System 7 or later
* If you use PhotoShop 3.0 or later, set PhotoShop's preferred memory
size to 12MB(68K)/24MB(PPC) or more using the file--Get Info command.
* If you use MagicScan DA, set MagicScan DA's preferred memory size to
6MB or more using File--Get Info command.

Installation Procedures
Make sure PhotoShop is installed first, if you have not yet installed it,
before installing MagicScan.
Follow the steps below to install MagicScan:
1. Double-click on the MagicScan Installer icon.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install MagicScan.
Please note that:
* If you choose Easy Install, the UMAXShare and UMAXChooser won't be
installed.
* When a dialog box prompts you to select the plug-ins folder, select
the Plug-ins folder in PhotoShop. The MagicScan plug-in driver
should be stored in the folder you select in this dialog box.
3. After installation, restart your Macintosh. A new folder containing
the MagicScan software is created. To know how to use MagicScan,
refer to your MagicScan User's Guide for detailed information.
Note: If you cannot install MagicScan from a CD-ROM, open the MagicScan
Disk Folder and select the folders designated MagicScan Disk 1
thru MagicScan Disk 9 in that order. These folders represent
floppies. Access the MagicScan Disk Folder and copy the contents
of each folder onto separate diskettes.
The contents of each folder, MagicScan Disk 1 thru MagicScan Disk
9, contain exactly the right amount of data for one floppy
diskette.
Note: If you find the MagicScan plug-in driver is located in the
MagicScan 4.0 folder, you need yo drag the MagicScan plug-in
driver to PhotoShop's Plug-ins folder.
Supported Scanners
* Power Look 2000, Mirage II, Mirage IIse, Mirage D-16L, PowerLook II,
Power Look, Gemini D-16, Power Look 3000, PowerLook III
* Other scanner models must be controlled using MagicScan 1.0 Retail
version (or later), VistaScan 1.0(or later).
Limitations
When using the Multiple Scan or Batch Scan mode, all scans must be from
the same physical scanner (regardless of the number of scanners connected
to the computer).
Notes
1. Remove 'UMAXShare' file from the Extensions folder under System
Folder if you have serious problems using a remote scanner through
network.
2. For non-network users, remove 'UMAXShare' file from the Extensions
folder under System Folder in order to increase MagicScan's
performance.
3. If UMAXShare is updated, all Macintosh machines on the same network
must be updated as well for remote scanner access. At present
Macintosh to PC access is not supported.
4. Before installing OmniPage, make sure you have the Apple Compatible
driver installed. Select "Support Apple Compatible Scanner" while
installing OmniPage. After installation, choose "Apple Scan" from
